Peter DeSeve is AMAZING…he is most well-known for designing the characters for the Ice Age movies, along with Finding Nemo, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan and more…Listening to his story, I found him to be a perfect person to connect with my students…I asked him for an autograph for my students at Susquehanna…he did MORE then that, Peter drew them Scat!

Not my style…but I did learn ALOT about manipulating oils….and loving it…

Copernicus© is my pet project at the moment.
He is my darling little turtle…and well, I don’t want to give anything away to spoil the story! I started working on the finals in the beginning of September and have just started pages 13-14….

I thought I would do a little home-job-scanning and tease myself in seeing him on my computer, versus on my drawing boards back and forth every day from school.
My students are engaged in watching my entire process. A few minutes here, a few minutes there…I even let one squirkle a few scribbles of bulk into a page!

Dear Readers:
The most difficult part of this process, is finding the time and trying to get others to understand that much of my “free” time is needed to focus on my personal work. I hope everyone that asks me to paint murals, signs, etc…truly understands my reluctance…(it’s not easy, as I love being helpful!) Teaching all day, 2 nights a week, and the boys are both in sports (eating up our entire weekends!) being yearbook advisor for my first year AND we are still trying to sell our 1st home while juggling two mortgages! YIKES! I hope all our friends and family understands the pressure I have placed on myself to do what I need to do for our family and my project. We love you all and appreciate all your support!

My Town…

I love where we live….can I just say, it’s the most beautiful place in the world…
I took photos this morning (doing drive-thrus) of all the beauty that surrounds my family and friends.
This town is truly a historic landmark…

This is the Starrucca House, it is an old railroad station…It’s one of the last Gothic Revival buildings still standing…and still in use! The breakfast buffet is to die for and is run by a local family.

WHAT AM I DOING FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS???
I have been working SO hard for the last 2 years on my MFA and I have one more year to go…I hope to then be ready for a different market…I am hoping all this research, studying and education will lead my passions into the appropriate field. I honestly do not feel inclined to exhibiting much more. I’m not very adapt at large social functions, hahaha–I’m quite awkward…One more year to go and a new direction…..

Had a teeny tiny little exhibit at the Southern Union building in Scranton.

This is a photo of me with one of my ‘dolls’.
The Doll Factory, was a name I gave to the collection of works that have a personal sentiment attached. Last year was my second year teaching 7-12th graders. I am filled with an enormous amount of sincere passion to educate my students…not just in “art” but in life…making choices, developing self-respect, trying new things and adapting to gained knowledge…making mistakes is a part of life…..but sometimes…sometimes…’caring too much’ CAN weigh a person down…and I refuse to care any less….soooooo….my way to deal with my own struggles of being a better teacher was to create a body of work that truly was a labor of love. I adore these human beings. They are the future. They are incredible. ALL of them, I wish I had more time to MAKE MORE Portraits of them…They need to know that the world DOES care for them and WE do listen. They are VERY real to me and I hope they will lead their most amazing adventures into the world with great successes built on their strengths and learning experiences.
